The All-Rounder

10 events. 10 hours. 100 points.

Take the All-Rounder fitness challenge! Complete ten events covering strength, power, endurance, speed, and cardio, in any order, within ten hours. Each event is scored against benchmarks for your age, sex, and bodyweight where relevant.

How Scoring Works

Each event is worth 10 points. Your benchmarks set four anchors: Advanced (10 points), Intermediate (7.5), Beginner (5), and Unfit (2.5). Performances between anchors earn proportional credit. Meeting Advanced earns the full 10.

An official grade requires a valid result in all ten events. If any event is missing, the result is Incomplete.

About the Challenge

Methodology

The ten events span the major domains of general physical fitness: maximal strength (squat, bench press, deadlift), relative upper-body strength (pullups), muscular endurance (pushups, plank), lower-body power (broad jump), anaerobic capacity and change of direction (300-yard shuttle), and aerobic capacity on land and in water (1.5-mile run, half-mile swim).

Benchmarks are calibrated by the demographic variables each event's norms depend on, using published norms and performance standards where available. Barbell lifts are scaled to sex and bodyweight with a modest age adjustment. Bodyweight-independent events are calibrated by age and sex. Bodyweight never makes running, swimming, or shuttle standards easier.

Anchors are drawn from military fitness test scoring tables, Cooper Institute norms, and established strength standards, adapted where the protocol differs.[1–9] Cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength, and push-up capacity are each independently associated with lower all-cause mortality and cardiovascular risk.[10–13]

The All-Rounder is independently developed. It has not been clinically validated as a complete fitness assessment and is not a medical standard or diagnosis. Maximal lifting, running, and swimming carry risk: test within your abilities, use proper technique and safety equipment, and seek medical guidance when appropriate.

Version 1.3 is provisional. Benchmarks will change as the evidence review is completed, and every result is labeled with the version it was scored under.
